Drive through farm and ranch country in Texas and you will see many abandoned buildings. These buildings were the homes, barns and out buildings of those that once made their living by the land. Some of the buildings were the homes of the workers for the land owners. I’d love to know the history of these buildings. What happened to cause the families to just pack up their belongings and leave? Did they try to hang on to their homes as long as possible? Did they move to the big city or just to the closest small town?
Do you ever wonder about the history of old, abandoned buildings and the people that lived or worked there?
These abandoned buildings are all over the country, not just Texas. I find them sad and fascinating. There is one on the farm where I grew up, an old carriage house, everything else bulldozed down and carried off. The young man who farms the land for me cannot bear to tear it down. He keeps a few pieces of machinery in it. Of course, one day….
I’d love to see the old carriage house. Where is it? (I’m sure you’ve told me; but ….) I think it’d be interesting to try to track down the history of some of the old buildings. Someday, I’m going to put together a photo series of old buildings. 🙂

for me it’s just the same abandoned or not because even if someone is living in the building you can also try to imagine that
