I’m glad you stopped by.   Please feel free to explore.   Here you’ll find a little about my hobbies — photography, crafting; and a little scrapbooking. You’ll also find some of my reflections on this journey called life.

 

It’s New

There’s also a new category called “Let’s Build a House”.   I decided to blog about building a house rather than just documenting the process in my journal because I hope that it might help someone else going through the process. Building a custom home requires lots of research as you make your decisions. Those of us on a budget while building need to stick together.

I’m proud to be a Texan (I know it sounds corny; but that’s what we Texans say.) I love to travel; but I’m always happy to get home to Texas.

My Interests

I was a teacher and school librarian for many years; but retired early to pursue some new interests. I’ve learned that the librarian/teacher part of me doesn’t stop just because I no longer go to work. So — now I’m a librarian/teacher that’s busy taking photographs, crafting, scrapbooking, reading, traveling, and being a wife, mom and grams.   I also enjoy working with all sorts of technology and playing online games.

Little known fact:  I was once featured in a high school yearbook as the first person in the school to own an iPhone.  How times have changed!

My Family

My family includes my hubby, daughter, son, 3 grandies and 2 mini Schnauzers. The grandies are 7, 6 and 2 ½. I call my grandsons the grandies because the 2 oldest have told me that I can’t call them my grandbabies anymore.

Since our daughter and son left for the big cities — it’s just been me, the hubby and our dogs hanging out. Luckily, I’m married to a wonderful, supportive guy. He’ll stop along the road for me to take a photograph and he doesn’t mind a few DIY projects. He’s also a great Dad and Pops.

  7. We live in Missouri, and our three are now on both coasts–can relate! Was wondering if you are interested in doing book reviews of newly (self)published or pending works? Because of your experience, your input would be most welcome. Have a wonderful retirement. We hope our’s is coming soon….

    • Sure, I’d be interested in doing some book reviews. I’ve done a few in the past for some educational companies. I think I’d enjoy reviewing fiction more than educational materials. Ha Ha Retirement is wonderful and I haven’t been bored even once. Thanks for stopping by to visit. 🙂

LOL We’re in the DFW area right now and the weather is gorgeous after all of the gray, gloomy days. I’m not sure how I’ll feel after the heat hits. I’m not use to so much humidity. 🙂

  11. I thought you might live in the NE when you talked about the slopes of snow. How is it in Texas now? In Seattle it is WAY warmer than normal. It even got to 77 one day last week.

    Your grandchildren might be interested in knowing that from time to time I still call my 37 and 40 year old daughter and son my babies!

    • I live in the Texas Panhandle and our weather is erratic to say the least. Several weeks ago we had 12 inches of snow and then it was 70 or higher. We broke the record for high temp one day with 81 degrees. Then last night the temp was 24 and the chill was 12 degrees. LOL It snowed today off and on. Luckily the roads are warm; so the snow didn’t stick.

      LOL I’l tell my grandsons. They’ll probably say – ah no. Thanks for stopping by.

      • I went to India the day after Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving it was something like 59 with a low of 51 (which is warm for November). The day I left it was around 52/37 and the day after I that the high was about 35. It snowed that day or the next.

        So it has been a very erratic “winter” and way warmer than normal. Everything is already blooming.

  15. Thanks, Juliana! I took the photo at Beaver Lake, AR after a big storm blew through. It was one of those rare times of being at the right place at the right time. These are the true colors (not photoshopped).
