I found this guy hanging out in the fresh water of the Red River at the Hagerman Wildlife Refuge near Sherman, Texas. I think that he is a Great Blue Heron. He was rather fun to watch as he stood looking for his dinner.
Here he is from a different angle. I enhanced the photo; so that he shows up better against the blue water. I love my Canon camera, but I wish I had a lens more suited to taking photos of these gorgeous birds.
