What do you think about this quote by Thoreau? Some people tell me that you have to work at happiness. That it doesn’t just show up at your door. Others tell me that they are happiest when they just let life happen. I think you just need to focus on what makes you happy in order to keep those other unhappy things from taking over your life
For me my happiness is my life. True, some days I am happier that other days; but I believe any day you get to feel happy is a good day.
I am happy reading a book.
I am happy playing a computer game.
I am happy sitting on my porch watching the sun set.
I am happy when my dog sits next to me.
I am happy going for a drive with my hubby.
I am happy working on an art or craft project.
I am happy when my grandsons come to visit.
I am happy listening to the birds chirp.
I am happy taking photos of everything.
I am happy going on a trip.
I am happy spending time with my daughter and son.
I am happy shopping.
And my list could continue on and on. I probably could come up with 50 or more things that make me happy. I may be happiest spending time with my family; but the small things all add up, too
Now, I am sure this all sounds rather pollyanaish to some; but I find elevating those little things makes me more appreciative of my life. Enjoying all the good things in my life keeps me from focusing on the things that just don’t go right or worse those things that could go wrong. (And that is a blog post for another day.)
What are some of the things that make you happy? Do you want to share part of your list?
Thoughtful Thursdays
As part of my 2018 goal to Spread Joy, I am sharing quotes, poetry, photos and sometimes just my thoughts on Thursdays — Thoughtful Thursdays. My hope is that these posts will help me (and maybe others) focus on the joys of life.
Thoughtful Thursday Link Up
I’d love to have others join me. It’d be wonderful to have a full-page of great quotes, poetry and photos to share. Simply email me at rainydayreflections2015@gmail.com your positive or thoughtful quote, photo or poetry along with your post link by 2:00 PM CST each Wednesday. We are working on spreading joy; so please stay positive. I’ll combine everything and post on Thursday afternoon. (You do not have to be a Word Press blogger or write a post to participate; but I will post your link if you choose to write a post.)
We always hear the phrase “happiness is what you make it”. I guess happiness depends on how we view life.
