Be truly grateful for each and every day.
In my post My One Resolution for 2015, I wrote about my decision to have only one resolution for 2015. I felt that just one resolution would be easier to keep; in addition, that one resolution covers a multitude of areas in my life. My one resolution for 2015 is to be truly grateful for each and every day.
I been giving some thought to how to keep this one resolution. Life is busy and I’m already finding myself slipping into the old hurry up – get it over with attitude. I’ve planned to make a gratitude list — to write down at least one thing each day. So far the list has only been inside my mind; it hasn’t made it to paper or iPad or laptop.
I know several people who choose a theme or one word every year as their goal or resolution. A Google search will turn up several books and websites describing theories of one word resolutions. I decided that I’d take my one resolution one step further and choose my One Word for 2015 – Grateful.
1. warmly or deeply appreciative of kindness or benefits received; thankful
2. expressing or actuated by gratitude
3. pleasing to the mind or senses; agreeable or welcome; refreshing
I hope that having “grateful” as my one word for 2015 will help me stay more focused. I truly want to appreciate life each day. It’s so easy to plan for the future – trips, events, chores – that sometimes today is lost. Don’t misunderstand me, I think that we need to plan for the future; but I also think we need to learn to appreciate every moment of our lives. I’m striving to be grateful for each day regardless of what happens. Even on a bad day, I want to find something to add to my grateful list.
