Small Town, USA

Monochrome Madness Challenge

I’ve decided to join the Monochrome Madness Challenge over at Leanne Cole Photography.    I’m a rather nervous because there are so many talented photographers in this challenge and I’ve looked at many of their wonderful images.  You can check out some of their photos here.    I’m hoping the Monochrome Madness Challenge will help me to challenge myself artistically and to learn more about photography.

Small Town, USA

I took this photo while driving through some small Texas towns one afternoon.  This street really made me feel the plight of so many small towns; however, the photo lacked the emotion I wanted.  I was pleasantly surprised that using a black & white filter added an emotional element to the image.

I used these filters in the Fotor app on my MAC to edit the photo.

Photo 1 – Sepia

Photo 2 – Straight Ink

Photo 3 – Palm

I hope you’ll take this quick poll to let me know which photo you like best.

  1. It’s actually Estelline. The population there is only about 140. The town is almost closed up.
I’ve been through Collinsville on 377; but I haven’t looked around. I’ll have to stop by and take some photos there, too. It’s pretty close to where we’re building our house. 🙂
