Rain, Rain and More Rain

Lynn Creek marina parking lot at Joe Pool Lake 5 days ago.
As you can see, the water was about 3 or 4 feet deep.

Rain, Rain and More Rain

It’s been raining almost daily in North Texas for over 2 months.  The massive amount of rain ends the drought for this part of Texas.  In fact, most area lakes are now at or close to flood levels.  Last Memorial Day, many DFW lake recreation areas were closed because they were too low and this year those some areas are closed because there’s too much water. According to the weather forecasters DFW has received more rain in the first 4 1/2 months of 2015 than all of 2014 and the rains will continue.  It’s predicted that fall and winter will be wetter than normal, also.

Joe Pool Lake

I’m sharing a few photos I had the opportunity to take at the Lynn Creek Marina at Joe Pool Lake.

The trees around Joe Pool Lake are standing in water.

A nice day in between rainy days and you have to wade through almost waist-high water
in order to get from your vehicle to the boat docks.

You can actually drive your boat through the parking lot.
This is at the very outer edge of the marina parking lot.

This gives a whole new perspective on an “infinity pool”  Yes, there’s a swimming pool out there.
Notice the life preservers hanging on the wrought iron fence.

Bottom — 5 days ago — The marina parking lot is flooded.
Top — 3 days later — The handicap parking sign is no longer visible and
several more feet of water are in the parking lot.

Please note:    There are people whose homes and business have been completely destroyed and will need help to recover.  My thoughts and prayers are with all those that the floods have affected.
