I was driving through a small Texas town when I saw this restored Mercury convertible in a parking lot behind main street. This car was pointed away from the street and had a white sign hanging from the rear view mirror. (I had to drive through the parking lot to read the sign.)
I don’t know the story; but I imagine it went something like this… One day the owner’s wife says;” You’ve been saying you’re going to sell that Mercury for months now. Why don’t you put a for sale sign on it and park it in a parking lot on main street.” So the owner took it to a parking lot behind main street and parked it facing away from the street. The sign is on the car; but it’s hard to read. A few hours later, he brings the car home and tells his wife, “I tried, but no one was interested.”
The car caught my eye because of the contrast of its white paint against the fence. It was shinning in the sunlight and was obviously restored by a careful hand.
